Steps of the Communication Process
Communication Process consists of the following eight steps:
Step 1: Sender:
The sender is the person who wants to communicate. The sender sends a message in the form of words, visual or audio. Similarly, the sender can be an individual or group or an organization.
Step 2: Message:
The information the sender wishes to communicate. Communication is started when a message is sent by the encoder to the receiver. The message must be simple, clear, and complete.
Step 3: Encoding
How the message is to be communicated. Examples verbal or written.
Step 4: Channel:
How the message is sent. For example, Face to Face or by email. It is a means used to exchange/transmit the message.
Step 5: Receiver:
The person to whom the sender sends the message.
Step 6: Decoding
How the receiver understands or interprets the message.
Step 7: Feedback:
The receiver responds to the message. The feedback can be verbal or non-verbal.
Similarly, there is noise at last. It means anything that might interfere with communication or reduce the chance of successful communication. For the completion of communication, feedback is most important.
